Smith joins the Presbyterian College coaching staff prior to the 2025 season after spending two seasons as an assistant pitching coach at Xavier University of Louisiana, where he played a key role in developing the team's pitching talent.
In his first season on staff in 2025, Smith worked closely with the pitching staff and helped develop redshirt freshman Tyrell Williams into a Big South All-Freshman selection. He was also instrumental in one of the team’s top outings of the year during an 11–8 win over #23 Alabama. In that game, the Blue Hose held the Crimson Tide to just one earned run over the final 6.2 innings, highlighted by Sean Hollister’s 4.2-inning relief appearance where he allowed only one hit and struck out two.
Prior to his time at Xavier, Smith served as an assistant pitching coach at Georgetown University while completing his master's degree.

In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Smith is the founder of Smith's Baseball Academy, an initiative focused on improving the on-field skills of young athletes while also fostering their interpersonal and professional development. The academy aims to prepare athletes for success both in sports and in life.
