Women's Golf Opens Spring at Kiawah Island Classic

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. - The Presbyterian College women's golf team is set to travel to the 2015 Edwin Watts / Kiawah Island Spring Classic hosted by the College of Charleston at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort.

Tabbed as the largest collegiate golf tournament in the country, the event has expanded to 40 teams in this year's field and will be played for the first time at Osprey Point as well as on the traditional Oak Point course.  Both par-72 courses are used for the three-day, 54-hole tournament. After 36 holes of play, the Top 20 teams will play for the championship at Osprey Point (5,964 yards) during the final round, while teams 21-40 will play for a flight championship at Oak Point (5,901 yards).

Last year, Kent State won the team title carding a three-round score of 892 (+28) amongst the 36-team tournament field. Kent State's Wad Phaewchimplee and Boston College's Katia Joo shared individual-medalist honors shooting 4-over par (220).

PC last played at this tournament in 2013 when they finished 22nd of 32 teams with a score of 965 (320, 315, 330).

This is the first of five spring tournaments for the Blue Hose.  Fans can follow along via GolfStat's live scoring feature.
