Women's Golf Travels to Bright's Creek Intercollegiate on Saturday

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's golf team hits the links on Saturday to begin the Bright's Creek Intercollegiate hosted by Gardner-Webb. The 54-hole event begins with a shotgun start on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. for 36 holes with the final 18 holes taking place on Sunday.

PROBABLES FOR BRIGHT'S CREEK INTERCOLLEGIATE
- The Blue Hose lineup for the 54-hole event hosted by Gardner-Webb includes Sarah Boteler, Alina Shchepteva, Sofia Carles, Mariana Polakova and Lextyn Petz
- PC will also have Taylor Reaves and Kelli Kragh competing as individuals in this weekend's tournament.  

TOURNAMENT DETAILS
- PC will begin play on Saturday with 36 holes set to begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m… The event wraps up on Sunday with another 8:30 a.m. start from Bright Creek Golf Club.
 
LAST TIME OUT
- The Presbyterian College women's golf team posted a season-best 296 to finish in 11th place on Tuesday at the Sea Best Intercollegiate. The Blue Hose were led by freshman Alina Shchepteva who recorded an even par round of 72. The two-day, 54-hole tournament was hosted by Jacksonville on the par-72, 6,084-yard San Jose Country Club in Jacksonville, Fla….
- Campbell secured the team title with a 289 on Tuesday to win the team championship by three shots over FIU. Praew Nontarux of USC Upstate & Isabella Hahne of Campbell both finished with a score of 215 (-1) to share the individual title of the Sea Best Intercollegiate. 

POLAKOVA EARNS FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
- Presbyterian College women's golf freshman Mariana Polakova (Brno, Czech Republic) has been named the Big South Freshman of the week following the Blue Hose seventh place finish at the Elon Invitational.
- She began the tournament with a 73 in the opening round on Monday that saw her drain three birdies in her first eight holes of the event. In round two, she posted her lone birdie on the par-4 13th hole along with 13 pars for a 74 in the second round. Polakova sat in a tie for 10th after 36 holes in the individual championship in Burlington on Monday afternoon.
- She responded with an even par 71 on Tuesday which was highlighted by four birdies on her scorecard. The Blue Hose freshman tallied a one-under round on her inward nine to push into a tie for ninth overall in the event. Polakova finished tied for fourth among all competitors for the week with nine birdies including her four on Tuesday.

2022-23 TEAM
- The Blue Hose roster features three additions under fourth-year head coach Anne Marie Covar. Covar returns Kelli Kraugh (Estero, Fla.), Sarah Boteler (Greenville, S.C.), Sofia Carles (Clinton, S.C.) and Lextyn Petz (Columbia, S.C.).
- PC has added Mariana Polakova (Brno, Czech Republic) and Taylor Reaves (Conway, S.C.) to the roster for the 2022-23 season. In the winter, Covar added Alina Shchepteva (Prague, Czech Repbulic) to the roster as she begins her collegiate career this spring.
