Tucker made an immediate impact her first year at the helm, guiding a young Blue Hose squad to the program's first-ever win in the Big South Conference tournament as well as victories against Charlotte, Louisiana Tech and Bucknell. She also helped PC to highs in on-base percentage and RBI as well as an All-Big South Conference honoree.
The head coach arrived at after having served as assistant coach at James Madison since 2009. JMU finished the 2011 season 29-23, and fifth in the Colonial Athletic Conference, after advancing to the CAA tournament semifinals in 2010. At JMU, she coached seven all-conference selections and one player of the year.
Tucker came to JMU from Greensboro College where she served as head coach for five years and compiled a 144-94-4 career record. She coached 38 all-conference players, mentored two CoSIDA regional academic team honorees, five all-region performers, and The Pride's first conference player of the year in 2006 and USA South rookie of the year in 2009. Tucker earned 2005 USAS Coach-of-the-Year honors following GC's regular season.
In 2007, GC finished a program best 32-10. Early in the year, Greensboro defeated top-ranked Muskingum College, catapulting the Pride onto the national scene by earning them their first-ever national ranking. Greensboro remained in the NFCA Division III poll for three-consecutive weeks, climbing as high as 10th.
Tucker has worked numerous NCAA YES (Youth Education through Sports) Clinics at recent NCAA Division I, II and III College World Series. She has served on the NCAA Regional Advisory Committee and is active in collegiate clinics. Tucker also was picked to host the first ever North Carolina Nike Camp, that began in the summer of '06.
Prior to coming to GC, Tucker was the assistant softball coach at Peace College for two seasons. As a player, she was a two-time team MVP, all-conference player and tournament MVP at Barton College and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and religion. She also competed two seasons at Barton in volleyball as a defensive specialist.
A native of southern California, Tucker served one year as the pitching coach at Tustin (Ca.) High School.
