Coach Addison Releases 2009-2010 Men's Golf Schedule

CLINTON, S.C. ? Head coach Thomas Addison and the Presbyterian College athletic department have released the 2009-2010 men's golf schedule.  It looks to be a very competitive schedule with nine Division I tournaments, with three being in the fall and six in the spring.

To start the year, the team will travel to the Raines Development Group Intercollegiate hosted by Francis Marion at the Country Club of South Carolina in Florence, S.C. in early September. The Blue Hose finished 17th last season during a rain-soaked and shortened tournament.

During the first week of October, the Blue Hose will compete in the 2009 Frank Landrey Fall Intercollegiate hosted by Liberty University on the Spring Creek Golf Course in Gordonsville, Va.  Last year the team finished eighth. Of the returning players, senior Patrick Coleman led the team and finished tied for 21st at 223 (76, 72, 75).

Two weeks later, redshirt senior Thomas Todd and his teammates will return to the 2009 CSU Fall Invitational hosted by Charleston Southern University on the Crowfield Plantation Golf Course in Charleston, S.C.  The team finished third overall in 2008, led by Todd's individual medalist honors (215; 80, 69, 66).

The spring season will begin with a trip to the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate hosted by Francis Marion on the Wexford Plantation Golf Course in Hilton Head, S.C.  The Blue Hose have finished in sole possession of fifth place the last two seasons in a row.

One week later, Coach Addison will take his team to the 2010 Charleston Shootout hosted by the College of Charleston on the Links of Stono Ferry in Charleston, S.C. for the first time.

The following week marks the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate hosted by USC ? Aiken on the Palmetto Golf Course in Aiken, S.C.  Last season the Blue Hose finished 13th and redshirt sophomore Evan Phillips had the best round of the returning lettermen.  Phillips finished tied for 38th with a 225 (76, 74, 75).

After a brief rest, the Blue Hose will return to play in the 41st Annual Furman Intercollegiate hosted by Furman University on the Furman University Golf Course in Greenville, S.C. in late March. The team will try to improve on a 17th showing in 2008 and 16th place showing in 2007.

The 2010 Wofford Invitational hosted by Wofford College at the Country Club of Spartanburg in Spartanburg, S.C. in early April will serve as the final tune-up for the Blue Hose.

Like last season, the Blue Hose will compete in the 2010 Big South Golf Championship hosted by TBA on The Patriot Golf Course in Greenwood, S.C. Last season, Coleman led the team to a sixth place showing and finished tied for 12th.  In 2007, Todd finished second overall and helped the team finish fourth.  Both golfers will look to improve on the team and their own individual performances.  Yet, due to the transition, the team will not be eligible to win the tournament title until 2011-2012.

With seven lettermen returning and with five new faces, the Presbyterian College men's golf team looks to have a great 2009-2010 season.
