Men's Soccer To Face USC Upstate on Friday Night at Martin Stadium

CLINTON, S.C. - The Presbyterian College men's soccer team opens its 2011 home slate on Friday night in the 22nd-ever contest against USC Upstate.

The Blue Hose have won their last two home debuts at Martin Stadium and aim for their first win of 2011 after dropping the season opener against reigning Atlantic Sun Tournament champion East Tennessee State, 3-0.

USC Upstate enters Friday's contest also looking for its first win of the season after falling to Wofford, 2-1. Colin Francis scored for the Spartans, who took a 5-1 win over Spartanburg Methodist College and tied Gardner-Webb, 1-1, in preseason action. Upstate finished the 2010 at 1-12-3 overall and went 0-9-0 mark in Atlantic Sun play.

PC takes on USC Upstate for the 22nd time in history and is looking for its first win over the Spartans since 2008. The two sides tied, 1-1, in last year's meeting in Spartanburg thanks to a Blue Hose goal from Stephen Glover in the 80th minute. USC Upstate took the 2009 matchup in double overtime on a set piece just 1:19 before the end of the match.

The Blue Hose stay at home for a Monday night matchup against Georgia State at 5:30 p.m., followed by a match against Erskine that wraps up a three-match homestand on September 10.
