CONWAY, S.C.   – Behind goals from Aloni Elfu and Parker Brennan and a strong defensive performance, the Presbyterian Blue Hose (3-1-1) shut out the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (1-2-0), 2-0, on the road on Friday evening.

"I am super proud of our team. We really executed our game plan. Coastal Carolina is a big physical team that puts a lot of pressure on their opponents with their direct play. We hung in there on defense. We scored a couple of quality goals."

HOW IT HAPPENED

• In the 46^th minute, Presbyterian Gabe Carvalho was fouled about 30 yards out from the goal, leading to a free kick. Steven Cordova sent a beautiful free kick finding a streaking Elfu about 15 yards from the goal. Elfu volleyed Cordova's free kick just inside the right post, giving the Blue Hose a 1-0 lead. Elfu's goal was his second of the season.
• In the 90^th minute with 25 seconds left in the game, Elfu passed to Ole Smaaskjaer on the left side of the box. Smaaskjaer found Brennan in front of the goal. Brennan blasted a shot with his left foot into the back of the net for his first goal as a Blue Hose.   

NOTABLES

• Goalkeeper Tim Baerwalde made three saves on the way to his third shutout of the season.
• Presbyterian finished the game with eight shots and five corner kicks. Cordova led the Blue Hose with two shots. Brennan, Elfu, Adrian Buri, Max Falconer, Jonas Sundli-Hardig, and Samuel Murar recorded shots for the Blue Hose.
