RALEIGH, N.C. – The Presbyterian College men's soccer team
held NC State to one goal in the first half in a Tuesday night matchup in
Raleigh, but the Wolfpack scored three after halftime to pull away for a 4-0
win.
PC moves to 0-6-0 on the year. NC State improves to 3-2-2.
Byron Quinatoa (Santo Domingo de los Colorados, Ecuador)
picked up PC's lone shot on goal in the 52nd minute.
Josh Carter (Anchorage, Alaska) led the team with three
total shots. Quinatoa added two and Jonny Mercado (Lilburn, Ga.), Ignacio
Monchetti (Montevideo, Uruguay) and Matthew Palma (Greenville, S.C.) each
recorded one as well.
PC goalkeeper Ethan Watson (Taylorsville, Ga.) made four
saves in the effort.
NC State found the net in the 20th minute off of
the foot of Matt Ingram. Ollie Kelly and Moritz Steidten played a through ball
to Ingram to set up a breakaway and Ingram converted to put the Wolfpack ahead,
1-0.
Carter and Mercado both fired shots in the second part of
the half in an attempt to put PC on the board, but the Blue Hose headed into
halftime trailing, 1-0.
Watson made two saves in the first 20 minutes of the second half
before NC State scored in the 75th minute. Steidten scored from in
the goal box on assists from Nazmi Albadawi and Zabarle Kollie to extend the
Wolfpack lead, 2-0.
The PC offense looked to cut into the gap but two late NC
State goals from Albadawi and Danny DiPrima sealed the result, 4-0.
PC next heads to Furman on Friday for a matchup at 4 p.m.
