Blue Hose Drop Pair at UNCW Invitational

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Presbyterian College softball team dropped a pair of games at the UNCW Softball Invitational on Friday, falling 7-1 to the hosts, UNCW, and 1-0 to North Dakota.

NOTABLES
- Macy Hyatt paced the Blue Hose offense with three hits for the day, including her first multi-hit game of the season against UND.
- Layna Johnson and Kiley Kross also each registered a hit in both contests.
- Hunter Meadows went 2-for-3 against North Dakota and also stole three bases, the most by a Blue Hose in 2020.
- In game two, Jenna Greene tossed her 12th straight complete game, allowing one unearned run on two hits across six innings. The freshman added nine strikeouts.
- The loss to UND was the first time Presbyterian has been shut out this season.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 1
- An error helped UNCW grab a 1-0 edge in the bottom of the first.
- A pair of fourth-inning home runs helped the Seahawks stretch the advantage to 6-0.
- The hosts then tacked on another in the fifth.
- Presbyterian tallied its lone run in the seventh, as Alexis Meadows came around on a UNCW error.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 2
- The game remained scoreless until the fifth, when North Dakota took advantage of an error to break the scoreless deadlock.
- The Blue Hose put runners at second and third with no outs in the sixth, but were turned away.
- PC threatened again in the seventh, getting a pair of runners into scoring position with two outs, but UND held on to earn the win.
 
UP NEXT
Presbyterian continues play at the UNCW Softball Invitational with two more games on Saturday. The Blue Hose are set to face Georgetown at 3 pm and North Dakota at 5:30 pm.
