Wrestling Travels To Boone For Tri-Dual on Sunday

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College men's wrestling team continues its league action on Sunday with a Tri-Dual at Appalachian State. The Blue Hose are slated to face Chattanooga at 3:30 before facing the host Mountaineers at 5 pm from the Varsity Gym on Appalachian State's campus.

About the Dual

The Blue Hose get set for a challenging weekend as they face the preseason #1 Appalachian State & #3 Chattanooga in Boone on Sunday afternoon.
Sunday will be the first all-time meeting between the Blue Hose and Mocs as PC and Appalachian State met last year in Boone.

About the Mocs

Chattanooga enters the weekend with a 6-2 record following a sweep last time out of Davidson & VMI. The Mocs are a perfect 4-0 in SoCon competitions this year.
Fabian Gutierrez at 7-1 in the 125 pound weight class and Matthew Waddell at 6-2 in the 184 pound weight class are leading Chattanooga during the 2020-21 season as both were selected to the preseason all-conference team.

About the Mountaineers

App State comes into Sunday's tri-dual with a 3-2 record following a 28-6 victory over Gardner-Webb last weekend. The match with Gardner-Webb was preceded by a 21-17 defeat against Campbell.
Anthony Brito, the preseason all-conference selection at the 141-pound weight class sits at 8-2 during the 20-21 season. Jonathan Millner another preseason all-conference selection at the 149 pound weight class is 7-1 on the year.
Thomas Flitz is 7-2 for the Mountaineers as he joined Brito and Millner in the preseason all-conference team at 174.

2021 SoCon Schedule

The 2021 SoCon schedule will be contested over four weekends featuring three-team pods each weekend with each of the conference schools wrestling twice in each of the four weekends.

Last Time Out

The Presbyterian College men's wrestling team opened its SoCon season with a pair of defeats against The Citadel and Bellarmine on Sunday at Knights Hall in Louisville.
The Citadel defeated PC 32-10 before a 32-18 setback against the host Knights. The tri-dual served as the season opener for Presbyterian.
Bernardino Gomez earned a pair of victories in his first collegiate action as a Blue Hose with a 16-6 major decision followed up by a 1:21 pinfall victory against The Citadel and Bellarmine respectively.
