Blue Hose Split with First-Place Camels

CLINTON, S.C. – Presbyterian College used a four-run fifth inning to topple first-place Campbell, 5-1, in the opener of the two teams' three-game Big South Conference series on Saturday afternoon. The Camels rallied to win game two, 6-5.

NOTABLES
- The game one victory ended a five-game skid for Presbyterian against Campbell.
- Jaiden Tweed had a team-high three hits for the day, including a three-run homer in game two, which tied her with Kiley Kross for the team lead.
- Jenna Greene went the distance for PC in the opener, limiting the Camels to just a pair of hits while fanning nine. The sophomore added two more strikeouts in a relief appearance in the finale, giving her 11 for the day.
- Kross picked up her fifth multi-hit game of the season and Katelyn Petty collected her fourth, as each notched a pair of knocks in game two.
- Lath Freeman (single and two walks) and Layna Johnson (two hits and a walk) each reached three times and scored twice on Saturday.
- In her collegiate debut, Nyah McNeal entered game two as a pinch runner and scored for the first time as a collegian.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 1
- PC broke the scoreless deadlock in the third with an RBI double by Johnson which plated Freeman.
- The Blue Hose then took advantage of a pair of Campbell errors to tack on four more in the fifth and extend their edge to 5-0.
- The Camels got their lone run of the contest with a leadoff homer in the seventh. Campbell loaded the bases later in the frame, but Greene picked up her ninth strikeout of the afternoon to seal the victory.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 2
- The Camels took their first lead of the day early in game two, plating a run in the top of the first.
- Presbyterian tied it in the third thanks to back-to-back two-out doubles by Petty and Kross.
- The Blue Hose then took the lead with four in the fourth. An RBI single by Bailey Watkins with two outs plated McNeal, and one batter later Tweed belted a three-run homer to center to put PC up, 5-1.
- Campbell got back to within a run with three in the fifth.
- In the sixth, the Camels attempted to score the tying run from second on a bunt single, but Lexi Palazzo threw out the runner at the plate to preserve the lead.
- The visitors came right back in the seventh inning however, and pushed across two more runs to complete the comeback and earn the twin bill split.

The rubber match between the Blue Hose and Camels is scheduled for 11 am on Sunday at the PC Softball Complex.
