Seniors Lead the Way in Win Over USC Upstate on Senior Day

CLINTON, S.C.  – The Presbyterian Blue Hose (34-13, Big South: 19-8) behind the performances of seniors Jaiden Tweed, Haley Haselden, and Taylor Ward defeated the USC Upstate Spartans (47-8, Big South: 21-6), 6-4, on Senior Day at the PC Softball Complex.

"It was a great win," Presbyterian coach David Williams said. "Every single senior stepped up. Jaiden Tweed hits a home run. Haley Haselden threw a solid six innings for us and did a great job. Taylor Ward comes in at the end and gets the save. A big moment for all of our seniors. Proud that they could get a big win in their final game at home. We have now beat every team in the conference this season so that gives us a lot of confidence going into next week's conference tournament."

HOW IT HAPPENED
In the first inning, the Blue Hose struck first when Tweed scored on a double to center field by Jillian Hewes. In the third inning, USC Upstate took a 3-1 lead after scoring three runs on four hits. In the bottom of the third inning, the Blue Hose regained the lead on Hewes's three-run home run over the left center field wall. In the top of the fifth inning, USC Upstate scored a run tying the score at four. In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Blue Hose regained the lead for good when Morgan Hess blasted a home run over the left field wall. In the sixth inning, Tweed hit a home run over the left field wall for the game's final run.
