LOUISVILLE, Ky. – In the first of eight Southern Conference meetings over the next month and some change, the Presbyterian College men's wrestling squad ran into a Bellarmine buzzsaw on Friday night in a hostile environment, taking a 40-9 defeat to an opponent that remains undefeated on the season.
Moving to 11-0 and yet to be significantly challenged in what's been an ultra-impressive start to 2024, the Knights grabbed eight of the evening's 10 bouts on their home turf, save for a 141-pound fall by
Rey Ortiz and a 184-lb. standard decision courtesy of
Caleb Roe.
Oritz' pin – occurring in 2:39 over BU's Shay Korhorn – was his second such win in less than a week after doing the same to Truett McConnell last weekend, keeping up his individual momentum as the reigning Adidas / Game One PC Student-Athlete of the Week.
Elsewhere, Roe's 9-4 victory opposite Sam Schroeder was the sixth of his ever-improving sophomore stint, although the Blue Hose fell just one point shy of becoming the second foe to reach the double-digit mark against a sizzling Bellarmine unit.
Now at 2-8 on the campaign, head coach
Mark Cody's group will return to Templeton after only a seven-day respite from the venue when they'll take on Queens at 3:00 PM.

UP NEXT
- The Blue Hose will square up with the Royals at the tail end of the weekend having bested their Charlotte-based rivals in 2022 across a 37-6 route. They'll hope to make it two-in-a-row in what will serve as the last matchup outside of SoCon territory, facing a Queens visitor that currently holds a 2-11 record.
- Queens has tasted an L in all of their last seven encounters (three of which occurring against a Southern Conference representative), last seen on January 14 in a 42-3 drilling versus VMI in North Carolina.
