Blue Hose Can’t Sustain Late Lead in SoCon Opener

CLINTON, S.C. – Nearly pulling off their first-ever dual victory against Southern Conference rival Davidson with a rowdy audience in Templeton cheering them on, the Presbyterian College men's wrestling team couldn't shake a match-closing 16-0 run that gave the Wildcats the win by a 27-13 clip.

Keeping Davidson mostly in check after their guests produced a 51-0 demolition over St. Andrews three days ago, some early positivity was hampered down the stretch in a matchup that featured four lead changes.

Heavyweight Morvens Saint Jean scooped arguably his best career win over DJ Spring in the fourth bout of the afternoon, a four-minute pin executed to perfection that gave his squad a 10-8 advantage.

The Blue Hose were also helped out by 184-pounder Caleb Roe's 18-9 major decision opposite Ian McGhee, as well as a 4-0 shutout from Tyler Rodier (133) for the freshman's second career win.

After falling behind by a deuce, Davidson regrouped for two standard decisions, one MD, and another injury-assisted win that turned the tide in their favor.
