PC Recognizes Ramirez & Wiley, Falls to Gardner-Webb

CLINTON, S.C. – In the fourth Southern Conference match of the 2024 campaign, the Presbyterian College men's wrestling team was unsuccessful in their quest for a second straight victory over the Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs, on the losing end of a 54-0 decision on Sunday that included three forfeits.

Prior to the start of the league match, Michael Ramirez and Malcolm Wiley were honored on Senior Day for their immense contributions to the Blue Hose men's wrestling program. Ramirez was defeated in the second contest of the day, while Wiley was unable to compete due to injuries after leading the squad in wins last year.

Gardner-Webb gathered two pins and four technical falls on their way to a shutout over PC, their second straight SoCon win after downing Davidson 48 hours ago in a 25-17 decision. The result avenged a 19-18 Presby win from February '22 which also occurred at Templeton Gymnasium.

The loss brings the Blue Hose to a mark of 3-11 on the season, still winless in league territory at 0-4. They'll remain in Clinton for their next two encounters, starting with a 1:00 PM date versus Appalachian State this Thursday.
