CLINTON, S.C. – In the second Southern Conference meeting of the 2024 calendar for the Presbyterian College men's wrestling team on Saturday, a match-closing winning streak of eight carried the visitors from VMI to a one-sided victory at Clinton High School, 46-6.
Although the Blue Hose were able to manage a couple of standard-decision wins in the early going from 157-pounder
Eli Holiday and 165-pounder
Michael Ramirez, the Keydets assumed control of the contest from that point and cruised after claiming three straight pins with two other technical's sprinkled in.
Holiday's 9-6 triumph against Josh Yost – his sixth of the campaign to land second on the roster – came with extra dramatics in an overtime special, giving his squad a 3-0 edge.
Ramirez expanded on that number with a four-point win of his own in the match's second affair, the fourth W of 2024 for the senior that pushed the advantage to six.
VMI never took a loss following that early hole, however, moving to 4-0 against Presbyterian since head coach
Mark Cody's club formed their partnership with the SoCon.
Looking to shake off the weekend defeat (their first home L after previous Clinton victories against Truett McConnell and Queens), PC will hit the road in six days for another league encounter with Chattanooga.

- The only SoCon blemish on UTC's resume was a six-point slide against The Citadel, otherwise picking up league wins over VMI, Davidson, and Gardner-Webb by an average margin of 16 points.
- 7:00 PM will be the start time for Presby when they lock horns with the Mocs, scheduled for February 9.
