CLINTON, S.C. – A South Carolina rival visited Templeton Gymnasium on Sunday afternoon for the Presbyterian College men's wrestling team's first Southern Conference encounter in two months, ultimately taking a 33-7 loss at the hands of The Citadel.
PC – now 0-2 in league meetings after a defeat versus Davidson back in November – was able to gain their seven points from
Ryan Luna (141) and
Caleb Roe (184). The former posted a 12-1 major decision, while the latter grinded out a 10-4 advantage near the close of the dual.
The Citadel carved a 12-0 edge with three matches down, and although Luna's one-sided MD against Thomas Termini gave the Blue Hose some juice, the momentum turned right back to the Bulldogs who won the next four bouts.
That put the deficit at an insurmountable 30-4, although Roe's nine-minute victory over Micah DiCarlo sparked another positive flurry for head coach
Mark Cody's club.
The Citadel advances to 7-0 all-time against Presbyterian, winning their prior two duals against Morgan State and Davidson by a combined 84-0 score.
