SoCon Trudge Continues for Men’s Wrestling vs. UTC Tomorrow

CLINTON, S.C. – Searching for their first Southern Conference win of the winter, the Presbyterian College men's wrestling team hosts Chattanooga on Friday evening from Templeton Gymnasium. Bouts will begin at approximately 7:00 PM.

The Blue Hose have gone through a bit of a rough patch during the first half of league play, looking to take a step forward following SoCon losses at the hands of Davidson, The Citadel, and most recently Appalachian State.

Head coach Mark Cody's crew will have their shot at a conference W against a Tennessee visitor who downed VMI last weekend. ESPN+ will have live coverage of Friday's meet, PC's fifth dual over the past two weeks.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT

- Chattanooga comes to Clinton with a tough non-conference schedule already fulfilled, a pre-league gauntlet that included #8 Virginia Tech, #5 Ohio State, #20 Little Rock, and #21 Oklahoma.

- The Mocs had their first dual of the month back on the 19th in a losing effort against Campbell, harboring a 16-11 advantage with two matches left but surrendering a technical fall (17-2) and major decision (16-8) in the closing stretch that ultimately doomed them.

- Head coach Kyle Ruschell, in his seventh season at UTC, guided his club back on the right track with a neutral-site victory over VMI, winning four straight bouts near the midway point as they collected a 28-10 triumph.

- Perfect in four attempts when facing the Blue Hose, Chattanooga pulled out a 28-15 result when they last visited Clinton in 2023. The final tally was much greater in Tennessee last February, a 47-4 decision on that evening.

LAST TIME OUT

- Since scoring their first win of the campaign in an impromptu dual against NAIA St. Andrews 45-9, Presbyterian has been largely held in check by their last three adversaries.

- Air Force published a 41-3 victory in PC's first dual against an NCAA Division I opponent in seven weeks, while The Citadel and Appalachian State beat the Scotsmen by 26 and 42 respectively.

- In a visit to the reigning SoCon Tournament champions on Monday, the Blue Hose were held scoreless despite a handful of close matches that nearly tilted toward their liking.

- Junior 184-pounder Caleb Roe leads all wrestlers on the roster with seven wins this season, followed closely by Ryan Luna (141, six) and Morvens Saint Jean (285, five).
