Throwdown on the Yorktown; PC Versus Campbell

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College men's wrestling team has picked a prestigious event to hold their first dual of the 2025-26 campaign, participating in the second annual "Throwdown on the Yorktown" this Saturday. They'll face Campbell at 3:00 tomorrow in an early-season SoCon encounter, live from a naval battleship.

Held on an active aircraft carrier – the USS Yorktown in Charleston – eight men's wrestling teams and three other women's programs will be on hand for an event that was a smashing success last year.

Over 1,200 tickets have been purchased in advance for the Yorktown extravaganza, with the Blue Hose being the last dual of the afternoon against the Fighting Camels.

This will be Presby's second appearance of the new season, with their only other showing to this point on November 2 at the Southeast Open in Virginia.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT

- Finishing in the SoCon top three in each of the past nine seasons, Campbell has been hard at work in November. They've already wrestled three duals prior to Yorktown and will face two other schools on Saturday before locking up with PC.

- The Fighting Camels could not snare the victory against either George Mason or Bloomsburg but sandwiched a 28-14 win against Williams College in between those two.

- Before going up against Presbyterian in Yorktown, Campbell will face Lander (ranked 4th in Division II) and #16 Penn.

- The Camels are in the first phase of a new era, as former three-time All-American T.J. Dudley was promoted to head coach over the summer. He qualified for the NCAA Championships in all four seasons at Nebraska from 2014-17.

- PC will aim for their first win against Campbell in six attempts, most recently dropping a 35-12 decision at Buies Creek back in February.

LAST TIME OUT

- Competing on a small sample size, the Blue Hose sent six wrestlers to the Southeast Open earlier this month. Hosted by Virginia Tech, PC saw their highest placement from 141-pounder Ryan Luna (6th place).

- Luna defeated three opponents in the consolation round from Maryland, North Carolina, and Minnesota, following up a seven-win junior season last winter. He was victorious against Campbell 10 months ago thanks to a six-minute pin.
