BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Presbyterian College men's wrestling team was unsuccessful in their quest to get in the win column during a tough Southern Conference swing, dropping a 39-7 decision at Gardner-Webb on Friday night.
PC is now 0-5 in league action with three more SoCon duals on the calendar, hoping to forget Friday's result by turning the page to their next challenger – Campbell – in less than 48 hours.
Of the 10 standard matches between the two conference adversaries separated by barely 60 minutes, PC saw victory from the hands of
Eli Holiday (149) and the team's leader in total W's,
Caleb Roe (184).
Those two offered up an 11-6 tally and a 13-3 MD respectively, although a quick 14-0 edge in the beginning from Gardner-Webb was too deep of a hole to dig out of.
G-W took the first three bouts of the night, and following Holiday's win, stretched the deficit further with another streak of three in a row. A 15-0 technical fall and a 3:20 pin in the final two matches allowed the home side to come away with the 32-point route.
