BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Presbyterian College men's wrestling team was a tough out for mid-major powerhouse Campbell on Sunday afternoon's return to Southern Conference action, falling 35-12 in a match that would have been decided by only five points had it not been for three forfeits.
Campbell was given 18 free points in classes 125, 157, and 174, making for a much higher differential than one may think when glancing at the end result.
Junior
Ryan Luna snatched a 6:24 fall against Hudson Waldrop to stop an 11-0 start from the home side, and although the margin grew to 30-6 near the end, PC fought until the finish by landing a 13-6 decision from
Caleb Roe and a 5-0 W by heavyweight
Morvens Saint Jean.
Thus, PC closed the dual with six team points that would've loomed larger without the aforementioned forfeits.
Roe is now on a two-match winning streak after scooping up a 13-3 MD in Friday night's defeat to Gardner-Webb, extending his team-high win count to nine on the year.
Ultimately, Presbyterian dipped to 0-6 in league encounters and 1-11 since the campaign began back in November. They competed strongly over the weekend with a divisional rival that recently recorded a streak of seven straight wins.
