MONTGOMERY, Al. – Usually the case whenever the sixth-ranked Presbyterian College women's wrestling team enters a regular-season tournament, the Blue Hose were the stars of the show in Sunday's Red Lady Open at Huntingdon College.

On a day where five PC wrestlers topped the podium, four did so for the first time in their still-young college careers. Three championship matches featured two PC competitors against each other, while the Scotsmen saw 10 top-three finishes altogether.

Freshman Kaylie Hall (160) snagged her second tournament title in a row with two falls and two technicals. She was joined in the first-place club by Jenna Anderson (117), Kassey Daugherty (131), Zoe Griffith (145), and Grace Leota (180).

Anderson, Griffith, and Leota took barely two months to achieve their first tournament crown (all in their freshman seasons), while Daugherty has rapidly ascended the ladder as a sophomore and is now ranked ninth nationally.

The Blue Hose have taken a combined nine personal championships in only three tournaments this winter, maintaining their status as national-title contenders.

Up next for Head Coach Brian Vutianitis and company: a trip to Iowa for the NWCA National Duals. They'll begin the festivities on Friday versus #23 Lindenwood in a double-elimination bracket.


 
NOTABLES

 
- Presbyterian has become a revolving door of phenomenal freshmen with each passing year, and Hall is another in that long line. Having also taken 1^st-place at the Blue Hose Challenge back in November, she has now won 14 consecutive tournament matches.

- Daugherty finishes off a spectacular two-day stretch after beating her opponent from Life University in the Red Lady Finals by a 6-5 decision. She went 4-0 yesterday in dual action, making her undefeated this weekend in nine attempts.

- Anderson, Griffith, and Leota were each victorious against their own teammates to win three more gold prizes. They edged out Charlee Shuler, Lilly Luttrell, and Isabella Gretzinger respectively.

- Among PC's team dominance, rookie Sloane Kruger was the runner-up in class 110 and Annalise Maralit obtained the 3^rd-place nod in the 103-lb. group.

- The Blue Hose won 43 total matches between their 15 entrees.
