CLINTON, S.C. – Junior Sloane Spessard of the Presbyterian College women's golf team has been named Big South Golfer of the Week as announced by the conference on Thursday (Oct. 29).
Spessard turned in a career-best performance at the Fripp Island Intercollegiate over the weekend, posting a runner-up T2 finish in Spartanburg. She earned her third top-10 finish of her collegiate career. Her previous career best was a tie for 8th at the Tot Hill Farm Invitational in 2025. She has been especially impressive in Fripp Island, where she finished in a tie for ninth last November.
Her runner-up is PC's highest individual finish in any tournament since Sarah Boteler came in solo second at the Bright's Creek Intercollegiate in 2023.
In the final round on Sunday at Fripp Island, Spessard produced the highlight of the day for Presbyterian on the par-four 4th hole, making an eagle. She was one of two players to card an eagle in the entire tournament and the only to do so on a par-four. For the week, she led the team with six birdies.
Spessard is the first Blue Hose golfer to earn Golfer of the Week honors since Maiken Bing Paulsen accomplished the feat on April 5, 2018. She is just the sixth golfer in the program's DI history to take home the league's top weekly honor.
This is the second weekly honor for the Blue Hose this season. Chloe Scofield was named Big South Freshman of the Week on Sept. 17.
