CLINTON, S.C. – Monday at 12:00 PM will mark the regular season finale for the Presbyterian College men's wrestling team, facing off with their eighth Southern Conference opponent when VMI visits Templeton Gymnasium.
Originally planned for the first day of February before inclement weather forced this dual to be delayed, PC will try for their first-ever victory against the Keydets (0-5 dating back to 2020).
Neither team has been particularly strong in SoCon competition this winter, with VMI's lone league win occurring over Campbell last week in a 32-16 decision.
The Blue Hose will aim for some late-season momentum before the SoCon Tournament in March, most recently dropping a 31-10 contest to Gardner-Webb in Clinton.

SCOUTING VMI
- After losing their first four SoCon encounters, the Keydets got the monkey off their back in the aforementioned win over Campbell. Although they dropped the last three matches, VMI built an insurmountable 32-5 advantage thanks partly to a six-minute pin by Beau Lewis in class 174.
- The Keydets couldn't confirm a second straight league win, however, as they fell to Gardner-Webb by 17 points just 48 hours later. They've been dormant for the last week, although they end the regular season against The Citadel and PC in consecutive days.
- VMI's best non-conference win of the season came at Duke's expense back in November, yet they've lost six of the last seven duals since defeating Sacred Heart just before Christmas.
- Eighth-year head coach Jim Gibson directed his unit to a seventh-place finish in the SoCon Championships last year, shaking off a slow start against the Blue Hose to win by a 29-10 deficit.
LAST TIME OUT
- 184-pounder
Reed Douglass improved to 6-0 in league territory and the Scotsmen also got contributions from
Joseph Morris and
Ryan Mann, although G-W was still able to pull a 21-point triumph when all was said and done.
- Mann (a true freshman) accomplished an 8-0 MD for his first win in a SoCon setting, while Morris similarly defeated a conference foe for the first time via 5-4 differential.
- Seniors
Ryan Luna and
Morvens Saint Jean have won four league bouts between them to aid Douglass' perfect record in SoCon meetings.
-
Brayden Adams and Luna both won their respective matches when Presbyterian last battled VMI, taking a combined score of 9-2 in those affairs.
