RADFORD, Va. – The Presbyterian College softball team returned from a week-plus layoff on Friday afternoon at Radford, beginning the second of six Big South Conference series and taking a 5-0 loss.
Originally planned to start at 4:00 until weather concerns bumped it up to noon, PC was held to a single hit against reigning Big South Pitcher of the Year Dakota Redmon.
The Blue Hose will finish the sequence with Radford tomorrow in a 1:00 doubleheader, looking to respond against last year's regular season conference champions.
FINAL SCORE: Radford, 5 – Presbyterian, 0
RECORDS: Presbyterian (13-19, 2-2) | Radford (12-18, 1-3)
LOCATION: RU Softball Stadium (Radford, Va.)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- PC's lone hit came from the bat of freshman infielder
Hali Duke in the 4
th inning, enough to keep a 22-game streak intact of either her or classmate
Cierra Grice getting at least one knock.
-
Peyton Duncan got the starting nod in the series opener and threw a complete game, forcing the Highlanders into eight runners stranded.
- Unfortunately for the visitors, Redmon was a tough code to crack as she let just one player reach base out of 22 plate appearances.
- A sacrifice fly and an RBI single put the Highlanders ahead 2-0 at the end of five, and they were able to increase the advantage in the 6
th inning with back-to-back doubles.
