Presbyterian Drops Midweeker to Clemson

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College softball team locked horns with the defending Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament champion on Wednesday evening, dropping a 10-0 decision to the Clemson Tigers in five innings.

In the program's first matchup with an ACC representative since 2024, the Blue Hose fell victim to seven runs in the 2nd frame as Clemson created a couple of three-run homers on the day.

This was certainly the toughest opponent that PC has gone up against this spring, with the Tigers being ranked #23 nationally in the latest D1Softball.com poll. Clemson is also receiving votes in the NFCA and USA Softball rankings.

Head coach David Williams' group will now enter a 10-day rest period before returning to Big South territory, finishing the 2026 campaign at USC Upstate for a May 1 doubleheader and May 2 closer.

HOW IT HAPPENED

- The Scotsmen were able to get three hits across from Hali Duke, Avery Robinson, and Morgan Farthing, although they would strand a second-base runner in two separate innings which kept them off the board.

- Clemson produced four extra-base hits in the 2nd inning to keep up their momentum after sweeping then-#18 Virginia last weekend. PC ended that sequence with a 5-4-3 double play.

- Senior pitcher Peyton Duncan received her 67th career start on the big stage, relieved by freshman Kaylee Huckaby and Avery Robinson.

- By singling in the top of the 3rd, Duke has now successfully reached base with either a hit or a walk in 27 consecutive games. She was named the Big South Freshman of the Week yesterday, her fourth weekly award of the spring.

- Presby's focus will now be on completing their quest for the upcoming conference tournament. A single loss by Gardner-Webb against Longwood or a single Blue Hose win in the Upstate series would accomplish that goal.
