ANDERSON, S.C. - The Presbyterian College men's and women's cross-country runners set numerous personal records at the Electric City Invitational at Anderson University this past weekend.
"It was a great weekend for the squad," said Presbyterian coach Robert "Bus" Baker. "With several athletes proving that they are going to be able to challenge the best of the best in our region over the next few years."
WHAT HAPPENED
On April 3, freshman
Katie Stevenson (5:37.45) ran the second-fastest outdoor mile in the program's history. Freshman
Jude Rutherford continues his historic season, running 4:18 in the mile to break the school record. Junior
Garrison Fisher followed behind Rutherford with a 4:26 mile to become the second fastest man in school history. The men's 5k group put together a strong weekend: sophomore
Jacob Smith (16:25.63) moved to third all-time in school history, sophomore
David Harner (16:29.05) holds the fourth all-time spot, while lowering his time, and freshman
Sam Gearheart moved to fifth all-time (16:30.94).
On Saturday, April 4, freshman Demon Alvin broke the school 100m record (11.45). Sophomore
Gage Walker and freshman
Robert Volk finish 1-2 in their heat to become the sixth (2:06.59) and eighth (2:07.07) fastest men in school history in the 800m. Freshman
Alexis Yeung breaks through with a big 800m PR (2:33.21) to become the second fastest woman over the distance in school history.
