CLINTON, S.C. ? Presbyterian concluded its 2007 season on Saturday afternoon at Old Bailey Stadium with a 13-10 loss to Deep South Conference rival Saint Leo.
Presbyterian and Saint Leo were even at 8-8 with 13:20 left in the final quarter, but Saint Leo outscored PC 5-2 over the final minutes of the game to secure the victory.
Ben Ewing led the Blue Hose in the contest. The Atlanta, Ga. native had four points in the game and secured a game-high nine grounds balls.
Ewing, who saw three of his points come on goals, was 14-for-18 on his face-offs on the day.
PC’s Sean Mulford (Towson, Md.) continued to find the back of the net for the Blue Hose, scoring four goals. Mulford, who had a team-high five total points with an assist as well, finishes the final two games of PC’s season with nine goals in the two tilts to end the season with the second-most goals on the squad with 26.
Brian Foley (Charlotte, N.C.) concluded his year with the most goals on the team after tallying a goal and an assist in the loss to Saint Leo. Foley ends the year with a grand total of 46 points (27 goals, 19 assists).
Jeremy Metcalfe (Dallas, Ga.) had two goals for the Blue Hose to tie Jordy McManus (Ponte Vedra, Fla.) for the third-most goals on the squad with 17.
Presbyterian’s Ryan Boyce (Baltimore, Md.) and Carl Spilly (Indianapolis, Ind.) both caused two Lions’ turnovers. Drew Tobias (Greensboro, N.C.) caused one Saint Leo turnover to end the season with a team-high12 turnovers.
Ryan Harris and Benjamin Brigham led the Lions’ charge in the victory with each player acquiring a game-high tying four goals and two assists for a game-best six total points.
They were two of three Lions to secure multiple goal afternoons as Chris Storrie had three of his own, while also dishing out two assists.
David Erdman picked up the win between the pipes for Saint Leo, saving 12 of PC’s 34 shots on the afternoon. Pat Slaughter (Lutherville, Md.) saved eight Saint Leo shots in the loss.
Presbyterian (3-11, 0-4 DSC) finishes its second year of varsity lacrosse competition with a program-high three wins.
