John Farmer, a 1974 graduate of Erskine College, is in his fifth season as the assistant golf coach at Presbyterian College.

Farmer joined the Blue Hose in 2007 and works primarily with the women's golf team, which was founded in 2005.

"My five years coaching at PC have been very rewarding. I've thoroughly enjoyed working with the women's program and helping it grow into a competitive squad within the Big South Conference and Division I teams."

Head coach Thomas Addison along with the help of Farmer have established the women's program as an upcoming contender for the Big South Conference. The 2008-09 women's team captured the program's first tournament victory at the Pfeiffer Lady Falcon Invitational in September of 2008. Since then, Farmer has seen three of his golfers earn Big South Golfer of the Week honors: Kasay Holbrook (9/30/10), Micah Dowling (2/24/11), and Carrie McClenaghan (3/24/11). Furthermore, the team has seen numerous school records improve and three different golfers post rounds under-par.

Farmer was a letter winner at Erskine College. After his graduation, he began working as a teacher and coach within the Clinton Public School District. During his 28 years of service, he coached many young golfers including head coach Thomas Addison while at Clinton High School.

In 1980, Farmer earned a Masters in Education Administration from Clemson University. He later went on to earn an Ed.S. degree from the University of South Carolina in 1991.

Farmer is married to his wife, Melody, and they have one son, John.
