Abraham Lopez

Abraham Lopez is in his first season as assistant men’s soccer coach. Lopez came to Presbyterian after the spending the last two years as an assistant coach at Bethel University.

“I am delighted to have Abraham join our program,” Potter said. “He has a great level of experience mentoring and coaching student-athletes at a high level. We expect him to make a tremendous impact this season and help elevate our program.”

Lopez joins the Presbyterian men’s soccer program after spending the last four years as a college assistant coach. For the last two years, he was an assistant coach at Bethel University in McKenzie, Tennessee. At Bethel, he played a major role in skill development, coached the goalkeepers, worked on game planning, and made travel arrangements.  During his time at Bethel, the Wildcats were ranked in the NAIA Top 25, captured the Mid-South Conference title, and was a part of a coaching staff that was named Mid-South Conference Coaching Staff of the Year.

He began his collegiate coaching career as an assistant coach at LSU Shreveport for two years. At LSUS, where he was in charge of video analysis, helped with practice planning, scouting opponents, recruiting, and coordinating team travel. During his time at LSU Shreveport, the Pilots won a Red River Conference regular-season title. For the first time in the program’s history, the Pilots reached the national tournament and were ranked in the NAIA Top 25 in both seasons.

Besides his college coaching experience, Lopez has also coached at the youth level in Florida, Louisiana, Tennessee, and in his native Venezuela.
 
The Caracas, Venezuela native graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from UCF in 2016 and a master’s degree in health administration from LSU Shreveport in  2020. He holds a “C” license from USSF and the FVF (Venezuela Football Federation) and a United Soccer Coaches Goalkeeper license.
 
“I'm really happy to have the opportunity to be able to further my coaching experiences at Presbyterian with Coach Potter,” Lopez said. “I believe my coaching experience will help the program and hopefully we can have an amazing season and achieve great things.”
