He comes from Grayson H.S., in Grayson, Ga. where he served as the head girls' basketball coach for two seasons. Burrow's team doubled its win total from four in 2006-07 to eight during the 2007-08 campaign.

Prior to Grayson, Burrow acted as the head boys' coach at Monroe Area H.S. in Monroe, Ga. He led his team to the state playoffs three times from 2003-05. In his first year with the Hurricanes, Burrow's squad was crowned the Region 8 Class 3-A Champions.

Burrow began his coaching career as the assistant boys' varsity and head junior varsity coach at Lexington High School in Lexington, S.C. He also led the team with a school record of 64 blocks over his four years at PC.

The Blue Hose made consecutive trips to the NCAA Division II tournament in his freshman and sophomore seasons. The squad lost a 76-67 decision to High Point but returned to the national stage a year later after claiming the program's second SAC regular season title. The Blue Hose finished the 1996-97 season ranked 15th in the country.

Burrow was recognized numerous times for his contributions to the PC team. He was selected to the All-SAC First Team in 1997 and 1999 and the second team in 1998. The 6-10 forward was also named to the NABC all-district Team his senior year.
