In March of 2025, Austin Bowen was hired as the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Academic Services. Bowen joins the Blue Hose athletics administrative staff after spending the last year and a half as the Director of Athletics Compliance at Furman University.

“Austin displays the qualities of attention to detail and dedicated leadership, making him the ideal person for this role,” Presbyterian Director of Athletics Dee Nichols said. “As Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Academic Services, he will ensure our programs not only meet but exceed compliance standards while fostering academic excellence. He has the background and skill set to implement a strong culture of compliance, a program that operates with transparency, integrity, and a commitment to our student-athletes success.”

In his role as Assistant AD for Compliance and Academic Services, Bowen will oversee compliance with all institutional, conference, and NCAA policies, rules, and regulations concerning student-athlete recruitment and eligibility. He will also develop and conduct continuing rules and compliance education programs for coaches, staff, student-athletes, and boosters. He will work with the Admissions office, the faculty athletic representative, and the Registrar’s Office to monitor NCAA eligibility.

In addition, Bowen will coordinate services for academic support for all athletic teams and student-athletes.  He will serve as the primary liaison between athletics, Presbyterian’s Registrar’s Office, individual faculty members, and advisors concerning the academic well-being of PC student-athletes.

Since September of 2023, Bowen has been the Director of Compliance at Furman. Before working at Furman, he was the Director of Compliance for the Abilene Christian athletic department for a year. He began his collegiate athletic administration career with two years (2020-2022) as the Compliance Coordinator for the College of Charleston athletics department.

The Rock Hill, South Carolina native graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sports management from the University of South Carolina in 2018. In the summer of 2025, he will earn a master’s degree in business administration from Abilene Christian University.

“I’m super excited to join the PC team,” Bowen said.  “I am grateful to be afforded the opportunity to be a part of such a prestigious university, and I can’t wait to get to work with all of the administrative staff, coaches, and student-athletes.”
