Juan Pablo Boada

Juan Pablo Boada is in his third season as Presbyterian's head men's tennis coach.
 
“Juan Pablo Boada brings a wealth of experience from his competitive tennis background and previous coaching roles in the Big South Conference,” Presbyterian Director of Athletics Dee Nichols said. “With a deep understanding of the level of play in our league, Coach Boada is well-equipped to continue building a championship culture within the program. In his second season at Presbyterian (2025-26), he helped guide the Blue Hose to the semifinals of the Big South Tournament. The doubles tandem of David Mamalat and Matija Samardzic captured the Big South Doubles title while advancing to the quarterfinals of the ITA Conference Masters Championship. They were nationally ranked in the ITA Doubles Rankings in the spring. Mamalat and Samardzic were First Team All-Big South Singles and First Team All-Big South Doubles selections.  Samardzic became the first player in the program’s history to be named Big South Newcomer of the Year. Daksh Prasad was named Second Team All-Big South Singles. Mamalat was a Big South All-Academic team honoree.

In his first season at Presbyterian (2024-25), he guided the Blue Host to an appearance in the Big South Tournament semifinals. David Mamalat was named First Team All-Big South Singles, while Daksh Prasad was a Second Team All-Big South Singles selection. The doubles duo of Eduardo Valentin and Denim Yadav was named Second Team All-Big South. Yadav earned Big South All-Academic team honors.

Before coming to PC, he spent three and a half years as the head tennis pro at the Evert Tennis Academy in Boca Raton, Fla., and a tennis pro at the High Performance Tennis Academy in Philadelphia, Pa. In those roles, he coached advanced junior players and traveled to several USTA and ITF tournaments. He has been awarded multiple prestigious certifications, titles, and memberships in the International Tennis Performance Association (ITPA), Professional Tennis Registry (PTR), United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA), and the Global Professional Tennis Coach Association (GPTCA/ATP-certified).
 
Before becoming a tennis pro, Boada spent the 2019-20 season as a graduate assistant coach on the coaching staff of former Presbyterian men’s tennis coach John Collins with the Winthrop men’s tennis program.
 
Before starting his coaching career, he played collegiate tennis at the University of West Florida and Winthrop. He won a Big South Tournament in 2014 with Winthrop and a Gulf South Conference Tournament in 2015 at the University of West Florida. Boada was ranked number one in Bolivia as a junior and earned ATP points.
 
The La Paz, Bolivia native graduated from West Florida with a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 2016 and a master’s in business administration in 2020 from Winthrop.
