Maroons Lose To Presbyterians

PC Outplays College of Charleston And Wins Victory 32 to 10

Clinton, S.C. Feb. 14 - Coach Johnson's Blue Stockings out-pawed, out-played and otherwise extracted a 32 to 10 victory from the College of Charleston here tonight. In the first half the Presbyterians exhibited a splendid brand of basketball, the half ending 21 to 5 in their favor. In the second half neither team exhibited exceptional form, the home team resorting to long chances in an effort to pile up the score. The defense of the blue Stockings was well nigh impregnable, the Maroon team being forced to try long shots or none at all. At no time did the Charlestonians get near enough to try reasonably safe shots. The four field goals run up by the visitors were the results of long tries from the middle of the court. On the other hand, the Presbyterians were handicapped by an inability to score on easy shots. Without doubt the star of the game was Williamson, the big Presbyterian center. This big fellow was a tower of strength on both offense and defense. He scored 7 field goals and 2 foul goals, a total of 16 points or an even half of the Blue Stocking total. Time after time Williamson broke in and nipped in the bud aspiring outbursts by the visitors, in addition Wilson and Walker played excellent ball each scoring 3 field goals. For the visitors, McGilliwany led in the scoring getting 2 baskets from the floor.
