HIGH
POINT, N.C. - High Point scored two goals in the opening half to defeat Presbyterian College
2-0 in men's soccer action on Saturday evening.
The Blue Hose dropped to 1-9-1 on the year with the loss, while the Panthers
improved to 4-7-1 with the victory.
PC had several scoring
chances in the game, matching the Panthers with seven shots.
PC goalkeeper Mark Owens
saved three shots in the game, while High Point Freshman keeper Corey Whisenhunt got the shutout for
the Panthers.
HPU got on the board early
in the game when Michael Saryee
crossed the ball from the left side into Hilaire Babou directly in front of the goal. Babou sent the ball
past PC Owens for his second goal of the season to give the Panthers the 1-0
advantage with just 4:25
off the clock.
In the ninth minute the Blue
Hose committed a costly foul that set up the HPU free kick. Matt Tuttle passed to Scott Rojo who set-up Chris Shrum inside the box for the
Panthers' second goal of the night and the third for Shrum on the season.
PC is back in action at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 11. The Blue Hose will take on
Gardner-Webb in their second home match of the season.
