PC Ends Year With Loss To Winthrop

ROCK HILL, S.C. ? Presbyterian College dropped a 3-0 decision to Winthrop University on Sunday afternoon in its final game of the 2007 season.

 

The Blue Hose end their first NCAA Division I season with a record of 4-11-2. Despite the loss to Winthrop on Sunday, PC ended the year having gone 4-2-2 against their opposition in their final eight games of the year.

 

Winthrop enters the Big South Tournament next week at Eagle Field with a record of 10-3-3.

 

Winthrop opened the game's scoring in the first half when Grant Wise took a pass from Matthew Skonicki and placed the ball in the back of the net for a 1-0 lead in the 22nd-minute.

 

Daniel Revivo garnered the Eagles a 2-0 lead at the 63:03 mark when he deftly finished off a cross from Magnus Leung. The goal was Revivo's 12th of the 2007 season.

 

Saidi Isaac broke into double digits in total goals on the year on Winthrop's third goal when he scored on a penalty kick in the 69th-minute. The netter was Isaac's 10th of the regular season.

 

In total, Winthrop ended the game with 10 more shots than the Blue Hose at 13-3. The Eagles also held the overall advantage in total corner kicks at 10-3.
