Three In Double Digits In Loss To HPU

HIGH POINT, N.C.- Senior Amy Jones led three PC players in double figures with 12 points in Presbyterian College's 76-58 loss at the Millis Athletic Center to future Big South Conference rival High Point University on Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Blue Hose fell to 1-18 on the season with the loss, while High Point improved to 8-7.


Lea Smith (Marion, N.C.) added 11 points and senior guard Bridget Takach (Chapin, S.C.) scored 10 points in the game for the Lady Blue Hose.
 
Junior forward Sharie Hopkins (Chesepeake, Va.) led PC with nine rebounds, including six on the defensive glass.
 
The best shooting performance for PC came from Takach (3-for-7), who was a perfect 2-for-2 from beyond the arc.
 
The Panthers countered with three players in double figures. High Point's Amy Dodd (17 points) led all scorers in the contest.

Andrea Tucker (11 points) and Ashlee Samules (11 points) rounded out the scoring leaders for HPU. Samuels, along with Mackenzie Maier, led the way with eight caroms for the Panthers.
 
The Lady Blue Hose finished by hitting 27.7 percent (18-of-65) of their shots from the floor, scoring 20 points off turnovers.
High Point countered by converting 29-of-66 of its field goal attempts (43.9 percent).
 
The Lady Blue Hose will next take on
Charleston Southern at 7 p.m. on Jan. 15 in Charleston, S.C.
