RADFORD, Va. ? Davis Orders scored for Presbyterian College for the second time in the last three games, but it was not enough as the Blue Hose fell 3-1 to Radford in Big South Conference men's soccer action at Patrick D. Cupp Memorial Stadium on Friday evening.
Orders (Greenville, S.C./Greenville) placed PC on the scoreboard right before halftime when in the 42nd minute Juan Ocampo (Coral Springs, Fla./Coral Glades) played a ball from the left of the goal to Orders, who ripped an open shot just inside the right goalpost. The assist was the first for Ocampo in a Blue Hose uniform.
The goal had cut the Highlanders lead at halftime to just 2-1.
Radford opened the game by scoring in the 13th minute on a Iyiola Awosika goal. Jeremy Delpino pushed the Highlander lead to 2-0 in the 36th minute when he scored on a set piece from 25 yards out into the upper right corner of the PC net.
Delpino acquired his second of the match in the 55th minute to give Radford a 3-1 victory. The win extended the Highlanders school-record home winning streak to 11 games.
The Blue Hose had a total of nine shots in the game and had a chance to acquire a second goal in the 89th minute, but Donald Gibson's (Ellicot City, Md./Limestone) shot pinged off the crossbar. The ball bounced back down, but Radford was able to clear.
Radford had just one more shot in the game than PC with 10. The Blue Hose had a commanding advantage in corner kicks, taking eight to Radford's three in the contest.
The Blue Hose (2-8-1, 0-3 Big South) return home at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 7 looking for their first home and conference victory of the season against UNC Asheville.
