ASHEVILLE, N.C. ? Presbyterian College volleyball won three straight sets after dropping the first one to earn its first Big South Conference victory over UNC Asheville on Tuesday evening at the Justice Center.

After capturing the first set, the Bulldogs (8-8, 0-3 Big South) leapt to a 10-5 in the second before PC called a timeout to regroup. Sophomore Amanda Kettles (Canton, Ga./Cherokee) dominated the next play and registered a kill off a set by senior Rachel Lewis (Bloomington, Ill./Tri-Valley), changing the momentum of the game. An energized team caught up to UNC Asheville as a service ace by libero Elizabeth Heineman (Normal, Ill./Normal Community West) tied the set at 12. Junior Kelsey McKee's (Greenville, S.C./Eastside) kill gave the Blue Hose the lead that would carry them to a 25-19 victory.

The third set found the two teams tied seven times before Kettles' kill broke a 15-15 tie and gave PC the final lead. The Blue Hose emerged from the final timeout with a two-point lead (24-22) before McKee's kill earned the match point.

PC (4-12, 1-3 Big South) had a .366 hitting percentage in the fourth set, a 25-20 win that ended the match. The Blue Hose came back from a four-point deficit to tie the game at 20 off kills by Kettles and McKee. Heineman served the last seven points and senior Heather Swain (Woodruff, S.C./Southside Christian) registered the final kill for PC to finish the final set with a 25-20 victory.

McKee led the team with 15 kills while Kettles and Swain each chipped in 12. Lewis registered 44 assists for her third 40+ performance this season. Heineman had a team-high 21 digs while sophomores Lisa Shelley (Columbia, S.C./Blythewood) and Ashley Dunlap (Greenville, S.C./Greenville) adding 12 apiece. The team registered five blocks on defense.

PC continues its five-game road stand with stops at Liberty on Friday and Radford on Saturday.
