CLEMSON, S.C.- Presbyterian College's women's basketball team traveled to Clemson, S.C. to take on the Tigers in a Sunday matinee matchup at Littlejohn Coliseum. Although the Blue Hose hit 42 percent of their shots in the second half, they were unable to slow the Tigers who registered a 66-35 victory.
Sophomore Amanda Mills (Oregon City, Ore./San Diego Mesa CC) jumpstarted PC's offense with a three-pointer three minutes into the first half to cut Clemson's lead to 4-3. The Blue Hose continued to hang tough as sophomore guard Katlin Moore (Fort Mills, S.C./Charlotte Catholic (N.C.)) was fouled while making a layup to tie the score at eight. She made the extra basket to take a 9-8 lead with 11:12 remaining in the first half.
Clemson's Shaniqua Pauldo regained the lead for the Tigers but it didn't last long as freshman forward Brittany Brown's (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Latin) jumper gave the PC a one-point lead for the second time in the game. The Tigers responded by going on a 19-3 run to end the first half with a 2-14 lead over the Blue Hose.
PC increased its shooting percentage in the second half, scoring 14 of its 21 second-half points in the paint. Despite the team's increased production, Clemson continued to increase its lead over the Blue Hose, ending with an eventual 31-point victory. The Tigers' junior Lele Hardy racked up a game-high 13 points. She added five steals for a career total of 189, eighth in school history.
