Men's Soccer holds Senior Day

CLINTON, S.C. ? Presbyterian College played a hard-fought men's soccer match against Furman University in front of a crowd of 251 fans for Senior Day at Martin Stadium.

The Blue Hose and the Paladins stayed scoreless for most of the first half, but Jonathan Collier was able to place a corner kick from Caleb Surri into the net during the 31st minute to give Furman a 1-0 advantage at the half.

Furman later scored the final goal when Brooks Duff took a pass from Patrick Murray and beat sophomore goalie William Redmond (Greenville, S.C.) in the 85th minute to go up 2-0.

The Blue Hose were outshot 9-5 by Furman. Chris Brophy (Glasgow, Scotland), Donald Gibson (Ellicot City, MD.), Ben Reidmayer (N. Charleston, S.C.), Paul Jackson (Carrolton, Ga.), and Jonathan Edmonds (Aurora, Colo.) all registered one shot a piece against Furman's Josh Zimmer, who recorded one save. Redmond recorded two saves on the day.

Head coach Bret Boulware and the athletic department took time at half to acknowledge the four seniors playing in their last game at Martin Stadium. Edmonds, Stevenson Gravlee (Columbus, Ga.), Tommy Rodriguez (Aurora, Colo.), and Jay Stewart (Roswell, Ga.) have been a part of 25 wins for the Blue Hose over the last four seasons.

PC (2-14-2, 0-6-1 BSC) closes out its 2008 campaign on Saturday, Nov. 8 in Lexington, Va. against Big South foe VMI (2-12-0, 1-5-0 BSC).
