Morehead, Ky. - Presbyterian
College women's basketball was unable to keep up with Morehead State's outside
attack on Friday night and fell, 62-51 in the Morehead State University
Invitational. MSU posted 12 three point baskets in the win. PC was
led by Amanda Mills' four treys and 14 points.
In the first half Kristen Stevens and Olivia Towers-Solis
made clutch three pointers down the stretch.
Towers-Solis drained hers at the 5:56 mark and ended an 8-0 Morehead
State run. Stevens drained hers a few
trips later and cut the Eagle lead to four points. Both players finished the opening period with
five points.
Towers-Solis finished
the game second in scoring with nine while Stevens logged eight points overall.
Coming out of the halftime break, Morehead rattled off a
pair three pointers to establish an 18-point lead. Morehead State took a school record 49 three
point attempts in the game, connecting on only 12.
The Blue Hose went on their own run through the middle
portions of the second half, eventually cutting the lead to eight points.
Mills got hot in the run and went 3-for-4 in the second half
from the bonusphere en route to her team high 14 points.
Down the stretch it was MSU's Chynna Bozeman who sealed the
win for MSU. She scored seven of her
game high 21 points over the final eight minutes to propel the Eagles to the
62-51 win.
Dria David pulled a career and team season high seven rebounds
all on the defensive side.
PC outshot Morehead State in all three categories leading
36% to 26% from the field, 33% to 24% from beyond the arc and 72% to 71% from
the charity stripe.
The Blue Hose will have a quick turnaround, facing
Winston-Salem State on only 16 and a half hours rest. Saturday's matinee tips off at 1:30 inside
Morehead State's Johnson Arena.
