KENNESAW, Ga. - The Presbyterian College men's tennis team
lost a tremendously close match to Kennesaw State Tuesday afternoon to Kennesaw
State by a 4-3 decision.
The Blue Hose (1-8) lost the doubles point, but came back in fine fashion in
singles play.
Rookie Andrew Brigham got things going for head coach Patric Hynes' team at No.
1. He easily downed Tyler Mills 6-0, 6-3. Matt Martin, at No. 2, followed
Brigham's lead. He downed Simon Janik 6-4, 6-4, giving the Blue Hose a 2-1
lead.
Rookie Ivan Ho was unable to extend the lead to two, falling to Gokalp Ozdenir
7-5, 6-1, at the No. 3 spot.
However, Zachary Sprouse once again pushed PC in front after knocking off
Michael Langel 6-4, 7-6 (6). As the Blue Hose had the opportunity to wrap
things up, but KSU was able to take the last two matches of the day for the 4-3
win. Edward Snead lost a 5-7, 7-5, 6-0 decision to Elliot Kahler in the longest
match of the afternoon. Ryan Boutlell was able to defeat Ryan Walters 6-2, 6-3
for the deciding point.
The Blue Hose will look to get back in the win column Saturday morning when
they play at Jacksonville. The match is slated for a 9 a.m. start.
