CLINTON, S.C.-The PC men's tennis team grabbed a 8-4 win at
number one doubles, but ultimately fell 6-1 to the visiting Georgia State
Panthers.
The 8-4 win at number one doubles by Andrew Brigham (Sutton,
Birmingham) and Rafael Berghaus (Offenbach, Germany) came after Georgia State
took the win at number two, but the Blue Hose were unable to come up with the
doubles point and lost 4-8 at number three.
Leading 1-0 after taking the doubles point, Georgia State
earned five of the six singles point to earn the 6-1 match victory. Berghaus earned PC's lone point with a hard
fought 5-7, 6-2, 12-10 victory at number three.
"We had a good win at number one doubles and number three
singles today," commented head coach Patric Hynes. "Georgia State is a very good team and I
expect to see them break into the rankings soon."
The Blue Hose fall to 4-5 on the season with the loss, and
return to action on March 1. PC travels
to Jacksonville, Fla. to face Jacksonville as part of an eight game road swing
in the state of Florida during spring break.
