LYNCHBURG, VA.-The Presbyterian College men's tennis team
dropped a tough match to Liberty, 7-0,in the second conference match of the
season. Despite forcing two third sets
in singles play and losing a close 10-8 decision at number two doubles, the
Blue Hose couldn't top the Flames.
Gonzalo Asis (Madrid, Spain) and Nathan Crocker (Clinton,
S.C.) came up just short in doubles play, falling 10-8 at number two. Andrew Brigham (Birmingham, England) and
Rafael Berghaus (Offenbach, Germany) dropped a close 8-6 decision at number one
and Liberty came away with the doubles point.
In singles play, both Asis and Zachary Sprouse (Hilton
Head, S.C.) forced third sets for PC.
Asis fell 1-6, 6-3, 7-5 at number five, and Sprouse fell 4-6, 6-1, 6-3
at number six. Liberty ultimately took
all six singles spots to come away with the 7-0 match victory.
PC falls to 0-2 in Big South action and move to 9-7 on
the year with the loss. The Blue Hose
return to action on Sunday, March 13 when they travel to UNC Charlotte. The match was reschedule from last Wednesday
and is set to start at 1 p.m.
