Blue Hose Volleyball Hosts Makes it Four in a Row with 3-0 Win over Campbell

The Presbyterian College volleyball team won for the fourth time in row, taking the 3-0 win over Campbell in action tonight at the Templeton Center in Clinton, S.C.  PC won by scores of 25-14, 25-21 and 25-19.  The Blue Hose have won 12 games in a row dating back to the win over Winthrop.  Down 1-0, PC won three straight to take the 3-1 victory over the Eagles.

The Blue Hose improve to 8-13 overall and 5-1 in the league, while the Camels drop to 7-18, 0-6.

Leading PC was Allison Brown with 11 kills, followed by Rachel Hall with six on the night.  Mary Trimpe added 11 digs, while Ashtin Frank posted 31 assists.  Sam Zuber and Lindsey Coats paced Campbell with seven kills apiece, with Heather Wilson adding 26 assists.  Zuber added 12 digs for the Camels as well.

The Blue Hose recorded just 13 errors en route to a .239 hitting percentage, while Campbell had 25 errors for a .059 hitting percentage.

PC raced out to a 10-3 lead in game one off two kills each by Hall and Brown and never looked back, extending the lead to 10, 18-8, as Presley Mabrey posted three kills while Brown added two more.  Campbell cut the margin to eight, 20-12, before the Blue Hose capitalized on four Camel errors to take the 25-14 win off a final 5-2 run.

The Blue Hose opened up a game two lead of 19-13 before Campbell rallied with two kills by Jessica Groen to cut the margin to four, 20-16.  That would be as close as the Camels would get as PC kept at least a four-point gap until a service ace by Lauren Bewick made it 24-21 in favor of PC.  She recorded a service error the next play to give the Blue Hose the 25-21 game two win.

Down 11-4 in game three Campbell fought back with an 11-4 run, highlighted by four kills, two from Zuber, and five PC errors, to knot the game at 15-15.  After a back and forth battle the game was tied again at 18-18.  Camel scored just one more point as PC rallied with two kills and three Campbell errors to take the 25-19 game three and match win.

PC next hosts High Point at the Templeton Center Saturday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m.
