All seven of the game's goals were scored in the second half. Down 3-0 in the 57th minute, PC's Josh Carter (Anchorage, Alaska) potted his fifth of the year to put the Blue Hose on the scoreboard. Mason Lewis (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) took the ball deep into the Gardner-Webb end and goalkeeper Matthew Swan came out to challenge Lewis's shot. The rebound bounced to a charging Carter, who stuffed home the chance for a PC goal.

Carter's score adds to his team lead with five.

Gardner-Webb's Denzel Clark scored the team's final three goals in the 80th, 84th and 86th minutes to make the score 6-1.

Ali Al-Gashamy opened the scoring in the 48th minute off of a Dustin Peyton assist before Marius Hammersmark made it 2-0 less than three minutes later. Iman Mafi then scored thanks to another Peyton assist and the visitors led in the 52nd minute, 3-0.

PC outshot Gardner-Webb in the second half, 15-13, and forced Swan to make eight saves in the final 45 minutes. Ignacio Monchetti (Montevideo, Uruguay) led the Blue Hose with six shots and three on goal, equaled by Carter's three shots on goal.

Cade Crow (Liberty, Mo.), Spencer Marks (Woodstock, Ga.), Jordan Archer (Charlotte, N.C.) and Lewis each tested goalkeeper Swan. One of PC's best chances of the night came in the 56th minute, when a corner kick found Crow in the box. The freshman's header attempt passed by the goalkeeper but a Gardner-Webb defender cleared the ball off of the goal line to keep PC scoreless.

PC also drew five corner kicks to Gardner-Webb's one in the second half and created a flurry of attacks late in the second half.
