ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The Presbyterian College men's soccer team dropped a Big South Conference match on the road to the UNC Asheville Bulldogs, falling at Greenwood Field by a 2-0 margin.
PC moves to 3-7-0 on the year and 1-2-0 in the Big South Conference. The Blue Hose return to action in six days when they host Gardner-Webb on Tuesday at 7 p.m. UNC Asheville improves to 4-7-0 on the year and 1-2-0 in league play.
The Bulldogs scored a goal in each half to take the win.
Emil Gonsalvez drew first blood in the 27th minute by finishing off a breakaway with help from Stabler Cochrane and Jack Huber to put the home side ahead, 1-0.
Bobby Castro netted his third of the year and second of the game in the 54th minute on another breakaway from the feet of Rob May and Mick Giordano.
The Blue Hose offense mounted a crushing attack in the second half, outshooting the Bulldogs 12-5 in the final 45 minutes. Nico Fazio (Roswell, Ga.) led PC with two shots on goal while Brett Godwin (Suwanee, Ga.), John Speed (Decatur, Ga.) and Matthew Palma (Greenville, S.C.) each tested Asheville goalkeeper Dan Jackson once as well.
PC fired three shots on goal against Jackson in the second half.
PC goalkeeper Tyler Beadle (Douglasville, Ga.) stopped six shots on the afternoon, including five in the opening half.
