CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College men's tennis team earned a non-conference win on Wednesday afternoon with a home victory over South Carolina State at the Templeton Tennis Courts, 5-2.

PC moves to 6-6 overall on the year and will travel to Kennesaw State on Saturday for a 2 p.m. matchup. SC State moves to 1-2.

The Blue Hose won the doubles point and took four singles matches en route to the win over the Bulldogs, who posted a 20-4 record last season and played in the NCAA Tournament.

The day began with PC grabbing wins at the top two doubles flights. Andrew Brigham (Birmingham, England) and William O'Connell (Nadi, Fiji) edged Anton Protsenko and Artemiy Nikitin in a top-flight thriller, 8-6. The win marked the duo's team-leading fifth of the year.

Grayson Mills (Lilburn, Ga.) and Rafael Berghaus (Offenbach, Germany) followed with an 8-4 win at No. 2 over Aziz Yuldashev and Marius Dragoi to clinch the point for PC. Danny Bruce (Marietta, Ga.) and Nathan Crocker (Clinton, S.C.) dropped a hard-fought match to Jiri Stiburek and Tomas Bizon, 8-5.

In singles action, O'Connell dashed Bizon at the second flight, 6-2, 6-1, while Brigham knocked off Yuldashev, 6-0, 6-4.

Bruce won his seventh singles match of the year in a three-set contest with Stiburek at No. 5. The Blue Hose freshman bested the Bulldog to tie Gonzalo Asis (Madrid, Spain) to tie for the team lead in victories with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 decision.

Mills picked up where left off in singles play and edged Protsenko in one of the closest matches of the year. The Blue Hose junior took the first set, 7-6, before dropping ht second by the same margin. The two played to a 10-point tiebreaker with the overall match already decided and Mills prevailed, 10-5.
