RADFORD, Va. – The Presbyterian College men's tennis team fell to the Radford Highlanders in a Big South Conference match on Friday afternoon, 6-1.
PC moves to 15-9 on the year and 2-3 in the Big South while Radford improves to 4-9 and 1-3 in league action. The Blue Hose return home for a three-match homestand that begins on Wednesday against UNC Asheville at 2 p.m.
The match saw the two sides duke it out to three 8-6 doubles verdicts. PC took one at the third flight as Danny Bruce (Marietta, Ga.) and Edward Snead IV (Greenwood, S.C.) knocked off Randall Carter and Javier Waase. The win improved the pair's record together to 9-2 on the season.
PC's lone win in singles action came at the sixth flight. Gonzalo Asis (Madrid, Spain) extended his hold on the team's season victory lead by cruising past Javier Waase, 6-1, 6-1, for the junior's 17th season win of the season.
Grayson Mills (Lilburn, Ga.) took Stijn Meulemans to three sets at the top flight, falling 6-7, 6-4, 1-0.
Andrew Brigham (Birmingham, England) dropped a hard-fought match to Randall Carter at No. 5 singles, falling in a 7-5, 7-5 result.
In the day's other action, William O'Connell (Nadi, Fiji) fell to Thomas Dehaen at the second flight, 7-5, 6-3, while Bruce stumbled against Nicholas Sayer, 6-1, 6-0. Rafael Berghaus (Offenbach, Germany) also suffered a setback at the fourth flight to Joe Mills, 6-0, 6-4.
